TEAS Math quick sheet

Choose the base. Keep the units. Check the result. TEAS Version 7 | Selected math topics. Selected last-hour study reminders, not complete exam coverage.

Start with something useful.

Percent change: choose the base

Percent change = (new - original) ÷ original × 100. The denominator is the original amount, not the final amount.

Example: $48 to $60 is a 25% increase: 12 ÷ 48 × 100. $60 to $48 is a 20% decrease; the base changed.

Convert by cancelling units

1 L = 1,000 mL; 1 kg = 1,000 g; 1 m = 100 cm. Smaller units require a larger number for the same amount.

Example: 0.72 L × (1,000 mL ÷ 1 L) = 720 mL. The L units cancel; dividing by 1,000 would move the wrong way.
