Calculate with matching units
Liquid volume (mL) = dose (mg) ÷ concentration (mg/mL). Convert units first; mg ÷ (mg/mL) leaves mL.
Quantity = units/dose × doses/day × days. Changing regimen? Calculate each phase, then add the quantities.
Federal refill ceilings
Schedule II: no ordinary refills. A legally permitted partial fill is not the same transaction as a refill.
Schedule III–IV: at most five authorized refills within six months after issue; prescriber authorization may allow fewer.
