The official Pearson VUE Texas Insurance Supplement takes effect September 1, 2026. If you have been drilling from an older packet, start here: 130 scored items, 13 named sections, and Texas statutes that decide the answer.
What the September 2026 outline actually publishes
ExamRefine did not invent these counts. They are printed on the official outline: 130 scored items split across nine general-knowledge sections and four Texas-specific sections. The live exam also administers pretest items that do not count. This page is a map of the scored outline, not a copy of the test.
If you sat, or studied for, an earlier Texas Life & Health form, do not assume the old section mix still matches. Open the current PDF, confirm the effective date on the cover, and rebuild your drill list from the printed section titles.

Texas law is its own 30-item exam
Thirty scored items are state-specific. A national life-and-health textbook will not carry §4001.201 — appointment required, the Chapter 1101 grace and incontestability rules, or the HMO emergency-care definition.
The outline’s printed grace-period cite is not the statute
The PDF cites TIC 1101.105 for the life grace period. The codified section is §1101.005: at least one month after the first premium. If your flashcards still say “10 days” or “1101.105,” they are not tracking the current code.
HMO, Medicare, and small-employer rules are not one pile
The outline keeps social insurance, health-policy types, Texas health statutes, and HMO statutes in different buckets. Mixing them is how retakers lose easy points. See the section-by-section breakdown.

- Re-open the September 2026 PDF and match section titles and item counts. Do not keep a study plan built only from a prior vendor outline, a school packet, or a recalled question list.
